H&K Dallas Scholarship Awards

News Release: Thursday, 1st January 2009

Scholarships were awarded to 8 college students during an awards presentation in December. The recipients were children of H&K employees and were presented by the Dallas Leadership Team of Mike Azhadi, Noel Kohler, Mark Hogan and Guy Wade.

The recipients were Ashley Krone, Sergio Sanchez, Alejandro Sanchez, Brandon Bolthouse, Jason Arnold, Rafael Gaona, Josh Venable and Melissa Wagner. The proud parents were Gary Krone, Eloy Sanchez, Rich Bolthouse, Kathy Arnold, Alvino Morales, Ken Venable and Harry Wagner.

ORIGINALLY AMERICAN owned, HK International is a leading global supplier of stainless steel kitchen equipment to the food service industry.

As chief executive, David Bobbett led an Irish management buyout in 2002. He describes his biggest business achievement as dealing with a 50 per cent drop in sales 10 days after completing the buyout, when their largest customer decided on a sudden change of strategy with a drastic cutback in capital expenditure. Bobbett restructured HK to provide total restaurant solutions, incorporating manufacturing and logistics, and the company now employs 970 worldwide, with manufacturing and service office operations in Mexico, US, Canada, UK and most recently Indonesia.

Makes The Ernst & Young 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year® Shortlist

Twenty-four companies have been shortlisted across three categories for the coveted 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® award. Over 115 entries were received and nominees were subsequently interviewed by Ernst & Young, followed by rigorous assessment by a 12-strong panel of judges, chaired by telecoms entrepreneur, and previous recipient of the award, Mr. Denis O’Brien.

Eight companies have been chosen in each of the three categories - international, industry and emerging, and cover a cross section of business interests with healthcare and business IT solutions among the top industries represented. Orlando Subway Convention

H&K participated in the recent Subway global convention in Orlando. This convention was attended by Subway global staff, development agents & franchisees from the Subway worldwide system, along with key suppliers. H&K presented our new hot and cold bain marie day covers which have been approved by Subway for supply to their system. H&K are already supporting the new and existing Subway restaurants in Europe and Latin America, and are expanding our operations in Australia & Asia to better support Subways growth in these key markets. H&K have been supplying Subway since 2001 with their stainless fabricated equipment such as bain maries, prep tables, sinks, back counters and beverage stations. We also purchase and consolidate the full Subway kitchen and furniture package, ranging from ovens to smallwares.

McDonald’s European equipment supplier of the year 2007

H&K were recently awarded the McDonald’s European equipment supplier of the year. This was presented to Keith Cassidy on behalf of H&K Europe at the McDonald’s European Equipment Manager conference in Berlin, which was attended by McDonald’s representatives from all the European country organisations. The major suppliers to the McDonald’s global and European system also attended. It was the only award presented at the conference.

H&K Dallas Awards College Scholarships

H&K Dallas is proud to announce the recipients of College Scholarships that were presented to children (who are currently attending college) of H&K Dallas, employees. In December, 2006, eight college scholarships in the amount of $1,000 were awarded. The recipients were Consuelo Rosani (University of Texas), Angel Delgado (University of North Texas), Nery Solano, Jr. (Southwestern Assemblies of God University), Katie Murray (Northlake College), Aleshia Franklin (Baylor University), Alex Sanchez (Eastfield College) Ashley Krone (Southern Methodist University) and Nikki Taylor (University of North Texas). We congratulate our employees and know they are very proud of their children. The proud employees are Miguel Rosani, Richard DeWitt, Nery Solano, Card Murray, Davie Franklin, Eloy Sanchez, Gary Krone and Terina Taylor.
